"We've developed what we call the world's first rechargeable fuel." — Peter Godart
"There's really no other technology that can store energy for this long and then be dispatched as easily." — Peter Godart
"Aluminum is just one of the best materials we have available to actually burn something." — Peter Godart
"If you don't have a green grid, actually exacerbates the issue. At least in the short term, makes things worse." — Peter Godart
"Our first customers are going to get super lucky. They're going to get fuel that is much cheaper than fossil fuels and completely carbon free." — Peter Godart
Today Peter Godart, co-founder of Found Energy, explains how he’s going to solve decarbonizing the industrial sector. Think steel, cement, chemical, food & bev production. All of those areas use high heat steam. Usually created using water and burning some fuel (natural gas is common).
Their solution replaces that with oxidizing (burning) aluminum. Something that was not previously known how to do efficiently. But after 10 years at NASA and in his PhD he figured it out.
They are at or below cost parity already. You don’t need any grid upgrades to make this work. Their is a built out supply chain system from the coal days. And moving aluminum doesn’t present any environmental hazards (when was the last time you heard of a deadly aluminum spill?).
Today he breaks down the tech, how they are going to market, how they are building the ecosystem, and how they are going to solve industrial decarbonization in short order.
After 4.5 years running this podcast, this is by far the most mind-blowing episode I’ve recorded. I mean this genuinely. 🤯🤯🤯 (yes 3x)
