10 Companies to Watch: Climate Risk Insurance & Wildfire Resistance
10 Notable Startups Tackling These Problems.
This week, our episodes discussed two major topics: Climate Risk Insurance and Wildfire Resistance.
First, we had a case of exploding head emoji (🤯) with Shaun Abrahamson from Third Sphere (#176). He demonstrated the correlation between climate disasters and revenue loss. In short, if a company can reliably model/forecast revenue loss, the idea of a green premium will vanish.
Why? — It will no longer be a question of “Why should I spend on this tech?” — It will be “Why the hell wouldn’t I spend a little to protect my future revenue?”
Second, we had a super-sized dose of inspiration from Allison Wolff from Vibrant Planet (#177). After a career at the big tech names, she revolutionized the Land Tender industry. In regular person language, she’s helping create a common data set, so all non-profits and government entities that manage land and conservation can coordinate and work together—instead of the chaos and misunderstanding that happens now.
So, we decided to do you a favor.
We put a list together of 5 killer startups in each topic area. Who knows, maybe you’ll find an interesting deal to chase. 😉
